Black Panther– Behind the Scenes with Phil Abeyta

The latest Marvel universe installment follows Black Panther(Chadwick Boseman) as he returns home to Wakanda, a small technologically advanced African nation, to defend it from an old enemy. This is the super hero’s solo feature debut and slated to be first of many stand alone films yet to come. With a commendable 98% Rotten Tomatoes score, Black Panther is on track to have quite a successful opening weekend. The film was shot at Pinewood Atlanta Studios and on location in South Korea and Argentina.

Fabricating the futuristic-looking sets of Wakanda would be no easy task for Fixtures Foreman Phil Abeyta. Abeyta and his crew were able to incorporate a massive amount LiteRibbon in many interior and exterior shots throughout the film. “We utilized about 59,000ft of Pro 120 X1 Hybrid and Chroma 120 X1 Amber LiteRibbon,” says Abeyta. He adds, “The biggest consideration for the lighting choices was to provide as much interactive lighting in the set as possible while also remaining seamless in the design of the sets.”

Black Panther hits theaters February 16th, and for all of you Marvel fans, this the last universe installment until Avengers: Infinity Wars hits theaters May 4th.
