LiteDimmer Spectrum Firmware v2.2 Release Notes

Spectrum OS2 is an update to LiteMat Spectrum controllers. The update includes improved DMX handling and the ability to prioritize the menu tree. Color algorithm is resolved by correcting green tint in True Hybrid mode. Unique RDM ID for each LiteDimmer has also been added to the latest update. Since OS2 has been built from the ground up, stability and reliability are improved and rock-solid.

A USB-A to 5-pin XLR LiteGear Updater Cable is required.

How to Update LiteDimmer Spectrum Firmware v2.0

Additional Information

Requirements
• PC with USB-A port.
• Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 (32 and 64 bit) operating system or Macintosh OS (coming soon).
• USB-A to 5-pin XLR LiteGear Updater Cable.

• LiteDimmer ballast to be updated (including external power supply if equipped.)
• LiteDimmer Spectrum OS2 Firmware Updater file.

Instructions

Set Up Hardware: 

  1. Connect ballast to power. Connection to fixture is not required.
    1a.  Do not connect to DMX.
    1b.  Set wireless switch to OFF.
  2. Connect the Updater Cable to the 5-pin XLR port on the ballast.
  3. Connect the Updater Cable to a USB port on your computer.
  4. On the ballast, navigate to the Firmware update screen.
    4a.  If updating from Series 1, select “info” from home screen.
  5. Your ballast is now ready to be updated.

Firmware Update Process: 

  1. Launch the downloaded file and complete the updater installation process.
  2. Open the LiteGear Spectrum Firmware Update App if it did not open automatically.
  3. Confirm that the COM Port is not blank.
  4. Click “Update” button.
    4a.  The green status bar will countdown from right to left.
  5. During this countdown period, click “Reset” on the ballast.
    5a.  The green status bar will now show the update process by moving from left to right.
  6. Wait for the process to complete.
  7. When successful, an update confirmation will appear on the PC.
  8. That’s it. Enjoy!
To continue updating additional ballasts, connect a new ballast to the power and updater cables and follow steps 3-7.
