JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Buyer/Planner is primarily responsible for the ongoing procurement, negotiations of materials, components, supplies and services that meet the quality standards of the company in accordance with approved plans for production and LiteGear revenue performance. Assumes full responsibility for production planning and supply chain needs to ensure timely deliveries of goods and services within budget and/or standard costs. Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals. The Sr Buyer/Planner is the focal point for relationships with businesses and vendors or suppliers, negotiates contracts for major purchases, creates vendor standards, and tracks/reports on vendor performance and any actions needed to ensure world-class performance. Travel to various locations to meet with vendors may be required A skilled negotiator with solid experience in the electronics manufacturing industry, and a proven record of managing domestic, global, long-term and quick-turn mix of suppliers.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop material and purchasing needs, based on company revenue outlook and associated considerations in collaboration with Sales, Production and Leadership. Execute and track material purchases to meet production demand.
  • Perform the company’s day-to-day purchasing activities.
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation.
  • Assess, manage and mitigate risk relating to quality, cost, delivery and supply of purchases.
  • Seek and partner with reliable new vendors and suppliers towards.
  • Manage vendor and supplier selection process based on price, quality, support, capacity and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
  • Establish and update an approved vendor/supplier database.
  • Develop, negotiate and administer purchasing agreements and contracts with suppliers in support of organizational requirements.
  • Evaluate contracts to ensure compliance with legal requirements and organizational policies.
  • Monitor supplier and vendor compliance with contractual agreements.
  • Oversee supplier compliance with internal quality standards and external regulations.
  • Troubleshoot cost, quality and delivery concerns.
  • Introduce performance improvement measures for suppliers and vendors.
  • Develop and manage purchasing budgets and forecasts.
  • Produce regular reports on purchase commitments, costs and delivery performance.
  • Perform as functional bridge amongst external vendors as well as internal stakeholders.
  • Participate to formulate workflow processes, methods and policies for applying vendors.
  • Visit key vendors and suppliers to ensure quality, build relationships, and important topics.
  • Identify and propose Purchasing, Planning process improvements as needed and report achieved improvements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • 8+ years purchasing and procurement management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management required.
  • Proven history of developing effective inventory management policies required.
  • Proven working experience as purchasing manager, agent or officer.
  • A knack for negotiation and networking.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data and to work with data.
  • Solid judgement along with decision making skills.
  • Strong leadership capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of project management principles and practices.
  • Working knowledge of all laws and regulations relating to procurement and contracts.
  • Knowledge of purchasing and supply chain systems, LEAN principles of planning and MRP/ERP systems.
  • Strong communication, negotiating, networking, planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High competency level in MS Office applications.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • BS degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, materials management, operations management, engineering or related field preferred, but not essential.

SALARY

  • $70,000 – $90,000
