Well, CineGear Expo is finally behind us. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to hang out and see all the new VHO Hybrid stuff. We had a great time and were honored to be nominated for the Cine Gear Expo 2011 Technical Award for best new lighting product. Competition was pretty steep and we were being judged for our VHO Hybrid LED system. The system lets you adjust brightness and Kelvin Temp. independently without effecting the other setting. The judges perused 3 Hybrid LiteRibbon™ products, 2 Hybrid LiteCards, our revolutionary LiteDimmer Hybrid control, and even the very first VHO LED lighted SourceMaker balloon! We gave it our best shot, but came in second place, named as “Honorable Mention”. Well that’s OK, I guess it’s not bad considering all the heavy-hitters we beat. We will be sure to continue to innovate and to create new building blocks for your next great idea! CineGear Expo 2012, here we come…

The VHO Hybrid Family gets bigger: Meet LiteCard 8 and 16, now in Hybrid White.

The newest building blocks for your next great idea. LiteCard is a flexible sheet of light composed of a multiple array of low profile LED emitters. They are arranged in a 2:1 ratio, and are mounted to a flexible adhesive backed circuit board. LiteCard is designed for use where requirements are: consistency, brightness, even-light with low power consumption.

VHO LiteCards are available in 2 sizes:

LiteCard 8 has dimensions of 48x96mm with emitters at 8mm spacing

LiteCard 16 has dimensions of 96x192mm with emitters on 16mm spacing

LiteCard 8 and 16 each have 72 emitters that are identical to VHO LiteRibbon. Hybrid LiteCards are designed with both cool and warm LED emitters that when used with LiteDimmer Hybrid allow precise adjustment of Kelvin temperature ranging from 3000° to 6000°K. Its simple yet powerful approach to controlling color temperature and brightness sets a new standard of performance and quality while allowing the kind of flexibility demanded from lighting professionals. LiteCard 8 and 16 can be cut at each vertical row to create custom sizes. LiteCard 8 is an incredibly bright light source that packs the maximum amount of LED’s into a small surface area. Litecard 16 spreads the LEDs out to 4 times the area making it great to augment the light from a computer screen or for use in an automobile. LiteCards draw just 1 amp of 12v DC power and use the same controls, cables and power distribution that VHO LiteRibbon uses.

LiteCards are able to provide a stunning amount of light all in a package that is thinner than 2 credit-cards and roughly the size of an iPhone (8mm) and an iPad (16mm). And each one can run on a pack of AA battreries for 2 hours!

VHO Hybrid LED LiteRibbon is a single row of wide-angle low profile, light-emitting diodes, (LEDs), mounted to a flexible strip of material. It has alternating Warm White and Cool White LEDs allowing for precise Kelvin temperature control. Combined with our revolutionary LiteDimmer Hybrid controller, you can adjust the brightness without effecting the Kelvin and adjust Kelvin without effecting brightness. It is quite simply a sight to behold. Freedom To Set Kelvin!

VHO Hybrid LiteRibbon is cuttable every 6 emitters and along with single color VHO LiteRibbon is 10mm wide and available in 3 versions:

VHO 120 is assembled with 120 emitters per meter (8mm spacing)

VHO 60 with 60 emitters per meter (16mm spacing)

VHO 30 with 30 emitters per meter (32mm spacing)

VHO LiteRibbon, VHO LiteCard and all LiteDimmer controllers have been designed specifically for Film and HD Video use. They and all of LiteGear’s products allow for innovative DIY lighting fixtures that can easily be integrated into set-pieces, illuminated-props and augmented into the architectural elements of a production.

The VHO family has an entire control, power, and distribution eco-system, which allows for a wide variety of options in handling any situation. All of the VHO Lite Ribbon and LiteCard use the same type of warm and cool emitters. This allows maximum flexibility in finding the precise amount of light needed for any application. If you want to design an LED panel that is small, very bright, and can be used in tight spaces, VHO 120 may be a good choice. If soft light is desired, a larger panel with VHO 30 spreads the same quantity of emitters over a larger area and creates a beautiful, near-shadowless quality.

LiteDimmer Hybrid is the most advanced handheld LED dimmer on the market. It is the backbone of control for LiteGear’s Hybrid LED products. Hybrid LiteRibbon and LiteCard are designed with both cool and warm LED emitters that when used with LiteDimmer Hybrid allow precise adjustment of Kelvin temperature ranging from 3000° to 6000°K. Its simple yet powerful approach to controlling color temperature and brightness sets a new standard of performance and quality while allowing the kind of flexibility demanded from lighting professionals.

The Hybrid LiteDimmer utilizes a unique LiteGear design called DynaRythmic PWM which allows Kelvin and brightness settings to remain completely independent. This allows the user to lock in the brightness level desired then dial in a precise Kelvin temperature anywhere in the full spectrum range of tungsten to daylight. All this is accomplished with the confidence of knowing that all settings are completely flicker-free and tested at camera speeds up to 480 FPS*. One LiteDimmer Hybrid is capable of controlling approximately 1,200 VHO-LED emitters. This equates to 10 meters of VHO120, 20 meters of VHO 60 and 40 meters of VHO30 LiteRibbon**.

LiteDimmer’s offer a beautiful, full output dimming range from 0 to 100%, and also includes a “Low Mode” that dramatically increases the range of adjustment on the low-end allowing appropriate level control when working at low light levels. A “Two Channel” mode also allows LiteDimmer Hybrid to function as 2 “Single” dimmers when needed.

LiteDimmer Hybrid is housed in a rugged aluminum case and protected with non scratch rubber end caps. The interface includes a three position switch with on, off, and low modes settings. Adjustments are made with 2 rotary controls, one for Kelvin Temp, the other for brightness. Both controls are hide-away enabled allowing the knobs to be safely recessed into the case to prevent accidental changes to critical settings and prevent damage when not in use. A multi-color indicator light shows dimmer status such as on-off, high or low mode, and over-temperature warnings, etc. The Hybrid LiteDimmer utilizes a panel mounted LiteGear HyConn connector for a robust connection that allows full integration with the LitePower HyConn distribution family.

LiteDimmer Hybrid is fully capable and load tested to 8 amps. They are microprocessor controlled which allows them to detect and protect themselves from reverse-polarity DC input power as well as short-circuits on the output side. The entire line of LiteDimmers are software upgradable at the factory which allows continued improvements to each dimmer through software releases.

* Always perform camera test when shooting at frame rates above 24 fps, ** When used in “Hybrid” mode
